Photo Gallery: 5th Annual BCCS ‘Anything But Clothes’ Fashion Show a Huge Success

The 5th Annual BCCS Anything But Clothes Fashion Show in recognition of National Black HIV/AIDS Awareness Day took place on Thursday, February 7, 2019 at Delaware State University.

This year’s show included fashion designs from 18 groups who used risk reduction materials such as condoms and dental dams to create their outfits. Models then wore the garments/outfits made out of contraceptive devices to promote the importance of protection from sexually transmitted diseases. Entries included: HIV awareness information written on a denim jacket; a purse made from a condom; angel wings; and everything in between.

It was loads of fun and a huge success! Delaware State University students went all out this year with amazing effort and creativity by all involved. A special ‘shout out’ to the top 3 designers and their models for their innovative outfits made of prevention materials (condoms, dental dams, lube packets, etc.):

  • 1st place is designer Trelsie Trotman and designer/model Jahde Correa.
  • 2nd place is designer Marthe Likeng and model Ayo Olurebi.
  • 3rd place is designer Tycara Danials and model Christina Beasely.

This amazing event had more than 150 attendees who also enjoyed some yummy hors d’oeuvres, refreshing mocktails, a photo booth, and lively music from a local DJ. BCCS shared HIV facts and statics throughout the night and also offered free rapid HIV and Hep C screenings. The night was thoroughly enjoyed by all… we’re already looking forward to next year’s event!
